## Choose Bondi if

- You want the bigger beach: about 1 km of sand from Ben Buckler to Icebergs.
- You want more places to stay on the beachfront strip, and more places to eat.
- You want a train within reach: the T4 ends at Bondi Junction, about 3 km uphill, with buses down to the beach.
- You don’t mind beachfront prices: the Campbell Parade hotels were among the dearest we checked.

## Choose Coogee if

- You want the cheapest beds by the sand: Coogee’s hostels, a 2–5 minute walk away, were $65–$83 a night when we checked.
- You want calmer water: Wedding Cake Island, a reef off the southern headland, shelters the bay.
- You want rock pools: Giles Baths at the north end and the Ross Jones pool below the surf club.
- You’re happy on buses: there’s no train, and the light rail stops up in Randwick.

## Getting between them

The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is 6 km one way and takes two to three hours, past Tamarama, Bronte and Clovelly.
