## What’s there

- **The beach.** A short curve of sand facing west, back towards Manly, with a reef on its ocean side that keeps the swell out. The Boathouse restaurant and the kiosk are behind the sand, and a walking track runs around the headland.
- **Under the water.** The whole bay has been a no-take aquatic reserve since 31 March 2002: no fishing and no collecting, dead shells included. More than 160 species of fish have been recorded here, among them the eastern blue groper. Most of it is 2–6 m deep, 12 m at most.
- **Fairy Bower, on the way.** On Marine Parade, on the way from Manly, Fairy Bower is a 20 m triangular rock pool built by locals in 1929. The bronze sea nymphs on its edge, Helen Leete’s Oceanides, went back up in 2017 after the 2016 storms.
