URL: https://sydneybeachside.com.au/beaches/narrabeen/ · Region: Northern Beaches · Facts checked: 2026-10-09

A long surf beach with a lagoon behind it, and one of Sydney’s best-known surf breaks at the north end. One hotel a block from the sand, and a big holiday park by the lake.

Nightelier Narrabeen, on Pittwater Road a block back from the sand, is a 2-minute walk to the beach and was $130 a night when we checked. The BIG4 Sydney Lakeside Holiday Park, with cabins and sites by the lagoon at North Narrabeen, is a 22-minute walk round the lagoon mouth, almost flat, at $127. There’s no hostel.

At a glance: 23 km north-east of the CBD · B-Line bus · no train · flags Sep – Apr · lagoon trail 8.6 km.

## One hotel by the sand, and a lagoon in the way.

Narrabeen is the northern part of a 3.4 km beach that runs south to Collaroy, with four surf clubs along it. At the north end, the beach meets the mouth of Narrabeen Lagoon, and North Narrabeen is an internationally known surf break.

When we checked, there were two accommodation businesses within walking distance: Nightelier, on the beachfront strip, and the BIG4 holiday park on the far side of the lagoon mouth. The walk from the park goes round the lagoon by road, so it is longer than it looks on a map.
