## What’s there

- **The beach.** About 500 m of sand facing south-east, between the high Bilgola Head to the north and the lower, shaley Newport Head to the south. One sandbar, cut by shifting rips, and permanent rips against the rocks at each end. The north end has the better surf.
- **The rock pool and the surf club.** At the south end is an eight-lane, 50 m rock pool with concrete walls and floor, disability access, change rooms and toilets. The surf club next to it was formed in 1949, and a kiosk opposite does wraps, burgers, coffee and cakes.
- **The valley.** The houses climb the slopes of the valley, and the bush runs down almost to the sand. The council calls it a little more secluded than the other beaches on the peninsula, and the road in is the reason.
